Parent Action for Safe Play (PASP) is an award-winning community organisation based in Coatbridge dedicated to developing and improving play, youth and sport services for local children and young people. We are run by the local community for the local community.
We have been successful in establishing a state-of-the-art play area and we provide street play services in several local neighbourhoods, bringing play workers and play equipment to the children. We also have an indoor Children and Youth Development Centre and we run a number of activities and groups.
Children and young people love what they can do with PASP, they feel safe, they can explore and have fun and it helps them to develop and grow.
We have transformed an area of Kirkshaws, Coatbridge into a haven where children and young people know they are always welcome to come, meet their friends and enjoy spaces where their needs come first.
Providing activities for children and young people helps them develop and learn, preparing them for a fulfilling life. PASP has a strong reputation for developing play in disadvantaged areas built over twenty years.
We have a purpose built playground open all year round, with solar-powered floodlighting. We have an indoor Children and Youth Development Centre with a wide ranging programme of opportunities for children from 5 to 16 years, including drama, dance, music, crafts, gardening and sports, with over 300 children and young people attending weekly.
We have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers and an experienced Board with some long standing, loyal members. Our 20 years’ experience in the play sector has allowed us to build a strong reputation and our annual process of reviewing and planning ahead helps us to develop and to keep an overview of policies and public/voluntary sector issues.
